From a friend of mine, a man twice divorced and a father of teen/young adult daughters and toddler twin sons - "Stay busy."

ETA: Couldn't leave you with just that ... From my vantage point as the friend who privies how pained some of my buddies still are, are the following:
    • When you're feeling like being all about your lonesome, snap out of it and make the effort to let people in. Do not allow this to turn you into a recluse.
    • Don't allow yourself to be defined by this breakup; Work on forgiving yourself and your ex. Fend off any conditions which will place all that went down with this breakup on an altar. Squash it.
    • No matter how tempting it may get, try to avoid casual hook ups until you're certain you're all good. Redirect your unspent sexual energy into your workout regimen. Commit to you. Make this personal. You owe yourself quality you time, to regenerate your heart and to get back to the drawing board, so you can reconfigure your hopes, your aspirations and your dreams.
    • Expand your hobbyist interests; The more challenging and the more unlikely, the better.

... Whatever you choose to do, that'll be a positive distraction - don't forget to find it in yourself to be thankful for the 6 years you'd been in each other's lives and your love story. Many part ways, burdened with unresolved emotional baggage.

    Yeah, all of that.

And realise that every day is different. One day you might feel completely over it, the next day you will feel broken. It isn't a river flowing in one direction, it is the waves crashing on the shore as the tide changes.

    ETA: Na nah, nana na.
    Because I couldn't resist
