Hi guys,

I was just wondering if anyone has the Fitbit charge HR 2? I do a lot of weight training so just wondering how it tracks work outs/calories and if it is worth getting.

I have a job where I'm sitting at a desk most of the day. I do cardio once or twice a week but mostly weights.

Any opinions would be great! X

Fitness trackers don't really work very well for strength training (or even hiit) due to the poor relationship between heart rate and calorie burn. Fitness trackers are most useful for steady state cardio.

I agree with everything you've written except "low intensity." Steady state is definitely important. Running, even fast, is supported very well. I wouldn't call fast running "low intensity."

Fair enough. I edited the post to remove low intensity.

And really it depends on the person. I've found the burns to be fairly accurate for my strength sessions. Though I rarely use that anymore as I'm training for a few races coming up.
