The 20 lb. Challenge

I have always been a person that needs instant gratification. I eat a bowl of oatmeal instead of a McMuffin for breakfast and expect to see a 5lb weight loss that night. Well, you and I both know that this is not how weight loss works. I have done crash diets and lost weight but stop and gain it all back and usually then some. I am also a person that needs to see a light at the end of the tunnel sometimes. I need mile markers and goals that I can actually visualize. When I go for runs I have to tell myself "You just need to make it to that fire hydrant." then when I get to the fire hydrant I have to tell myself the stop sign etc etc etc.

I have decided that I am going to challenge myself with a new goal which is to lose 20 lbs. by Christmas. My theory is that there are 20 weeks until Christmas so this gives me the opportunity to set a goal with an end date in sight with being realistic. I am challenging myself not only to lose 1 lb. a week but this gives me an opportunity to learn how to be healthy and lose weight the right way. I am not looking for a quick diet this time for instant gratification. I am looking for a lifestyle change that will give me a lifetime of gratification.

I have more than 20 lbs. to lose to get to a healthy BMI range but this challenge will be my first mile marker in my lifestyle change. If anyone would like to follow or join me on this challenge send me a friend request. We can motivate each other and learn from each other.
