rediscovering my motivation

About 1 1/2 years ago I was diagnosed with diabetes. The doctor said to me "We can discuss lifestyle change, or we can discuss your expiration date". I went home, cried all night, and started a new life the next day. Over the course of the next year, I lost almost 50 pounds! I went to the gym 5 out of 7 days! I LOOKED AMAZING!!!! And then slowly, I fell back into bad habits. Today, I have gained back 20 or so of those lost pounds. I don't exercise nearly like I use to. I am soooo incredibly tired of dieting! I want (NEED) to get a handle on my eating habits. I'm not interested in dieting anymore - I need to learn how to eat healthy, control my portion size, make sure my exercise levels are healthy for my intake. Im not obese anymore, but I really want to get that 20 pounds back off and figure out how to maintain it. Finding that motivation is so hard these days. I do really well during the day, but something about evening BAM I'm grazing my way until bedtime. I tell myself every day Today! Today is the day I change it all but I haven't lost 10 pounds by 6 pm and get demoralized.

Sounds like you need to find something to do to keep you from grazing in the evening. Think about your night routine and how to avoid it. Maybe it is as simple as keeping your hands busy? I have heard people say that helps (play cards, knit, or whatever you enjoy). Maybe you just need to put a reminder on the pantry door to not snack. Whatever works for you.

    Good luck!
