How do you stay on track?

I know my calories. I know what I am supposed to eat. I exercise 5 days a week.

There are times I love tracking on MFP. Then there are times I lose my brain and I don't track. I keep losing and gaining the same 10 pounds over and over.

How do you stay motivated to keep tracking on MFP?

I log everything. Good, bad, or indifferent. That's the decision I made and I've stuck by that.

Surround yourself with what motivated you even if you need to ask for it. I don't have much support for my dieting and goals IRL so I browse MFP and r/ProgressPics for people that remind me of myself and where I hope to be in the future. Their success and close similarity to me keep me going.

Anytime I needed to lose weight, I tracked my food. I don't think I focused too much on motivation? At any rate, that's something I'd advice to everybody now.

I also got rid of "what I am supposed to eat" this time, and the supposed need to exercise. That was the gamechanger. Now I'm finally able and willing to eat less and move more for real, consistently and forever - so I'm almost effortlessly maintaining my weight at a healthy range.

Set a rule for yourself: before putting anything in your mouth, it goes in the app. If you learn to stay consistent with this one thing, many good things follow. You may rubber-band out of bounds with your calories in an unwanted direction, but having that base habit of always logging will make it much easier to snap back to baseline. It's less about motivation and more about logging consistently regardless of motivation because that's just what you do, like going to work and brushing your teeth.
