My name is Vicki and I will be 60 years old in August. My physician recommended gastric bypass to me and for the first time in my life, our insurance provides coverage. I just had my initial consult and myfitness.com was recommended as a method to track my food intake and exercise. My surgery will be at Magee Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. I have battled my weight since the 7-8th grade. I had success with Weight Watchers about 32 years ago and reached my goal weight only to become pregnant. Other attempts since cause a 25-30 lb loss and then a plateau. I want to get healthy since I now have 2 young grandchildren, 5 months and just turning two. I am a breast cancer survivor and have the usual aches and pains of aging but I hope to improve my overall quality of life. I don't feel old but I'd sure like to be more agile. Thanks for having me.

I am almost your age and I had the bypass a few years ago. The lost weight resulted in a significant improvement in my quality of life.

My assigned dietitian had me log all my meals in to MyFitnessPal and that discipline helped a lot through preparation and recovery from surgery.
