Picky eater

My food intake is horrible. I have lived the majority of my life eating anything that isn't a vegetable or meat due to hating the taste. Being picky as a kid didn't leave me with much healthy options I did like. I had dropped to a very low weight when I was younger and my parents gave in and allowed me to eat whatever I wanted to gain weight. I'm now 27 morbidly obese and can't blame anyone but myself for what I eat. This is my first time trying to lose weight I'm finding keeping to my cal. count fine but I still don't eat healthy due to being put off by the taste of most things. Are there any picky eaters out there that have suggestions. Maybe a way to make veggies taste better that doesn't involve dressing. Any recommendations on recipes to try that are not meat based(not a vegetarian just hate the taste of meat)

I find roasting pretty much any vegetable makes it taste good - I usually roast mine dry, but adding a little oil can make a big difference to the end taste and texture. The fat also helps your body absorb fat soluble vitamins so including some fat with your vegies is a great idea.
I love spaghetti bolognese - my sauce has little meat, and a truck load of vegies. The taste of the vegies is really masked by the tomato sauce and herbs and spices. You could swap the meat for beans to add some protein if you're really against meat.1 -
Hello! I also hate the taste of meat. I do love veggies though. I dislike when ppl ask if I'm a vegan or vegetarian because it's very difficult to explain the difference.
I prepare meat for my family but I don't eat it.
Instead I just find other foods that I do like and make adjustments to create a well balanced wide variety diet. Example- I don't like meat but I do like beans. I like Greek yogurt. I like protein powder. So I don't need to eat the meat to get my protein because I found other things that I do like.
Maybe Google a list of high protein non meat foods and check off the ones that you might like to try. Then go to the store and pick them up.
Maybe make a list of the vegetables that you kinda like and look up recipes for them. Sometimes you can hide veggies in some recipes so you won't taste them a lot.more Example- add carrots finely diced into pasta sauce and the tomato sauce covers up some of the taste. I'm sure you can find lots of recipes to hide veggies in. I'm not much of a help because I do like eating veggies.
Hope this helps a little. I do my best hitting my macros without meat so I think you'll be able to do it just fine too!

Roasting and saucing are excellent suggestions.
Cheese is an excellent vegetable delivery system for some picky eaters. So is breading vegetables and baking them.
For some reason even though it is still basically a salad some picky eaters like slaws which can have tons of variations.
Sweet potatoes are nutritious and they usually get a pass.0 -
Adding fat and salt to vegetables, and eating them as part of a meal, and of course cooking/presenting them correctly, make them more palatable as well as nutritious.
If you think that healthy food = disgusting food, you're making change impossible. Adjust your attitude. Be adventurous.0 -
I don’t eat a lot of veg, so I keep a multi-vitamin in reserve for days when I don’t hit my goals.0

I don't have problems eating meat or veggies, but I am picky about what I eat. What I do is eat what I like and keep close to my calorie goal for the day/week. If you're concerned about not getting enough vitamins/minerals, take a multi vitamin.
For veggies, I use margarine and black pepper.0
