Avoiding ready meals they make you hungry!

I’ve had a long couple of weeks at work due to covering sickness. As it was unplanned I couldn’t follow my weekly menu plan and for the last 2 days my main meal has been a low cal supposedly good for you ready meal and I’m genuinely hungry on my usual calories!
These meals appear to have very little protein and despite being healthy are really high in carbs and sugar. One meal has changed my carbs from 50% to 68%.
I will be stocking my freezer up with homemade emergency meals when I get a day off.

Just have to have a good look when you're buying them. I find most are pretty empty and/or pretty small portions, but a couple of brands have decent protein and fats and are quite filling.3

Some ready meals are great, some are terrible. Even within the same brands there's a lot of fluctuations between meals.5

What you should take away from this experience is that now you know a bit more protein helps you feel satisfied. It was not that it was a packaged food but that it was lower protein.
Making your own freezer meals is a good idea. If you want to use premade meals you can look at the label and your food diary and make sure you are getting tbe amount of protein you need also.6 -
I find some frozen veggies and some precooked frozen chicken breasts are more satisying than those meals and just as quick to grab on the go.1

Some of these meals have very little protein. Others are specifically designed to be higher in protein. If you know you want more protein in your meals, you can always flip over the package to look at the nutritional information before you buy it.
They're no different than any other food.6
