Finding the sweet spot

I used to do 3-4 runs per week (12-17 miles/week average). Although I did notice a huge benefit to my overall fitness, I also found that I was uber stiff almost all the the time. Stretching helps, for sure, but when I would go out the front door to get the newspaper in the morning, boy I was reminded of the run the night before. More recently I have been doing 2 runs/week, filling in the 6-7 day/week workouts with 2 gym (weights and stretching) and 3 bike/spinning workouts. My legs feel great! No more soreness and I feel a lot more limber when I stretch. I am sure my running technique is probably horrible, but I now feel like I was likely just overdoing it .

Variety is a wonderful thing. I like it more and more as I age, besides. Sounds like you've found your niche - congrats!
