Linking Garmin to MFP?

Not sure where to ask this. Here seems good as this is about a fitness tracker.

I have a new Garmin vivosmart 3 tracker. I have the option to link it to my MFP account for calorie tracking. I'm wondering this linking will work the same as Fitbit did years ago. I had Fitbit linked years ago, but unlinked it because I would have calories removed from my diary while I slept (ie: would be in the green before I went to bed, same day would be in the red the next morning when I checked).

I have my Garmin linked, its the reason I am on here actually.I have a new day each morning so I'm not sure what you mean about being in the red the next day. I have'nt had any problems. Hope this helps

Fitbit would send info to MFP about my activities for the day. Say on Monday, I'd have 2000 calories including exercise on MFP to play with. I'd eat 1950 and be 50 under my calorie goal when I went to bed on Monday night. On Tuesday morning, I'd go back to look at Monday's diary and suddenly, my calorie total is 1700 and it says I've overeaten by 250 calories. While I'd slept, MFP and Fitbit decided to take away Monday's exercise calories.

If Garmin and MFP act like that - taking away earned calories while I sleep because I'm "not active enough" despite me being moderately active all day long - I won't bother linking them.

I have a Garmin FR 935 and haven't had that issue. Garmin will push updates every throughout the day both in terms of exercises that you've done (ie I swam this morning and once my watch synced with Garmin Connect Garmin then sent that to MFP) as well as calories that you've burned (or not burned) based off of your step count.
