Coming off of the ketogenic diet for the third time. While it has resolved all my stomach issues I cannot sustain this way of eating. I want a piece of fruit...darn it! Anyone else decide they just can’t do Keto any more? Now it’s about finding what upsets my stomach!

Yep, I missed fruits and vegetables too! It wasn’t for me.0

What about switching to low carb (under 100-159 kcal) instead? You can have some fruit but are still limiting the carbs that upset your stomach.1

I’ve done keto for a year and a half lost 50lbs. If you do keto for 2 months and best as possible you’ll be fully fat adapted. When that happens you can occasionally have some fruit to kick the craving and then continue keto. The longer you go without cheat the quicker your go back into fat burner
I don’t crave fruit anymore ... avacodo makes up my fruit

But I love root vegetables too. Turnips, parsnips, Jerusalem artichokes and yams. Those first two are great in stews.1 -
Root veggies are a no no for keto lol to many carbs5

Only in large amounts are they a no-no. Even then, if timed around exercise some can get away with eating a fair bit of roots.3 -
Have you seen a doctor about your issues? They may be able to recommend an elimination diet, whether you decide to keep doing low carb or not. Knowing what upsets your stomach would allow you to follow any kind of eating pattern you wish and just avoid the foods that give you a reaction.1

the amount of vegies I got to eat when doing keto didn't constitute my version of "eating vegies", even when sticking to lower carb ones.5 -

It may not help if the culprit items can fit into a low carb diet. Finding out what foods are aggravating the issues would be the best option.3 -

It would seems that the culprit is a carb related food if by reducing carbs eases the issue.
Maybe another way to do this would be to gradually increase carbs until the OP finds their diet sustainable or the issues re-appear and the culprit food (s) are identified.

I hate fruit, can't imagine why anyone would miss it, but to each their own. Keto features all my favorite foods, oh sure, who doesn't love a good cheese burger, bun and all, or cheesy pizza with the crust, but small sacrifices for the larger picture are well worth it.5

Arugula, spinach, cabbage, cauliflower, and artichoke hearts in addition to the ones listed above, as well as berries and avocado, and I usually try to fit in a little watermelon or pineapple as well. Carrots are usually doable.
I don’t just sit down and dig into a huge plate of any of those things on keto, but realistically I didn’t do that all that often before keto, either. If you look at carbs as a percentage of your calories and focus on ones that are fiber-rich, you can eat a respectable amount of produce. It takes time and effort to get the hang of that, though, and of course you shouldn’t if you don’t want to. Keto can be a bad fit for you without all the hyperbole.1 -

Exactly. I think slowly reintroducing the carbs you want is probably best - it will help you identify what foods are the problem. I would go a few days to weeks between reintroducing a food so you can catch the culprit easier.1 -

Try adding or increasing the food items you are wanting to eat...one at a time...for a few days and see how you react to each. If the stomach issue doesn't return with that food, chance are it is not that specific food that is causing the stomach problem. It may not be any of the fruits or vegetables but rather the other foods with carbohydrates like breads, pastas, rices, legumes, etc.1 -
I eat plenty of veggies on keto, I even ate carrots yesterday :::gasp:::
It's about finding what works and what fits in to your macros. I'm not really a fruit eater, so I don't miss it. Also, I can stay in Ketosis eating up to, and even a little above 50g of carbs per day, so because of that, I definitely have a bit more room in my macros for the occasional sweet potato or carrot.
OP - have you ever had any testing done to find out what is going on with your stomach? I have a Hiatal Hernia and Erosive Esophagitis and find that eating low carb/keto helps the most with keeping my symptoms at bay.2 -

The answer is simple, don't do keto. I don't know why people always start with keto by default. All I hear is "keto this", "keto that"....keto is just a tool, Intermittent fasting is a tool, Paleo diet is a tool, whatever diet is a tool...nothing else. keto in itself won't guarantee you weight loss, the only thing is being in a caloric deficit. You definitely don't like keto, so my question to you, why are you forcing that diet to yourself? You mention stomach issues??? The issues is concerning what??? Do you have issues with fruits?? Or is it carbs???1
