I agree. I’m somewhat of a newbie and if I make a comment or something and I get a “woo”....I feel like an idiot....lol. Because I think it means “hey that was really stupid”

I used to feel the same exact way. There's a whole bunch of threads (in chit chat) that address the whole "woo" subject. It will probably leave you scratching your head even more, though. I wouldn't pay too much attention to it, you know someone is probably doing it just to be a wise @$$.
Thank you for that reassurance. Sometimes I have no idea what people are talking about in some of those threads. I would assume though they have been here quite some time and know each other well.3 -
Woo = dislike here.
Likeability goes a long, long way. Straight UP. Removing Woo works for me.
Open. Mind. Insert. Possibilities.
I joined MFP a few years ago while I was ridding myself of dieting theologies and religions. All of them.
I track my food to keep myself within my normal river banks. That is all.
I don't tally macros, micros, ketones, carbs..... MFP was my neutral place where I could relax from diet think. I could write silly notes or keep encouraging myself while I was tooling along. I've found some kindred spirits or spirit animals on the forum.
I think we resort to playing the games because entering into dieting discussions takes more out of you than you get back. It wears you out. IF and Keto are too hot to handle. Food group elimination diets tout removing your autoimmune disease and all of the rest of it. I can't hack any those empty promises for long term sustainability. There's always another Christmas miracle coming around the corner.
There's always a keto/IF undertone running in the background on the forum. The ground needs to be leveled for all to feel freedom to share. The hard, cold truth is that less than 5% of dieters can keep the weight off. Less than 7% of WLS, weight loss surgery patients within 5 years.
The appetite control center is located in the brain and not the stomach. You can remove half your digestive tract and shuffle it all around but unless you fix that dieting brain, the fat wants you back. Rebound will be found.
Many of these procedures are not reversible. Extreme dieting has its own set of risks, too.
Everything you do in the name of weight loss needs to be sustainable for the rest of your life. You're going to have to learn to surf through the times of false hunger and broken satiety cues. Find exercise you really, really enjoy. Do everything on your terms.
With every passing day it will get easier. Your change will come. There is no such thing as the finish line. I no longer diet or look back over my shoulder at the latest miracle cure. Don't linger too long there - you might lose your footing and throw the towel in. Dieting is not my religion, it can become a new addiction.
Keep moving forward within the range of your abilities. Fight back with everything you've got.2 -

Same. When I'm in the wrong mood, the woo and even hug get me really irritated or make me not want to post here at all.
I also don't love it when super-regulars go on a tangent that no one else understands, accounting for like 120 of 150 posts in an otherwise interesting thread. In some ways I don't mind because most of them seem like nice people but it's just exhausting scrolling through all of the back-and-forth inside jokes when I came to read serious answers.2 -

I agree with so much your post. I don't have the mental stamina this morning to write a lengthy reaponse, but I will say that I've heard from many friends here that the games forum is the only place they feel safe, and the only place they've received meaningful support. It's a darn shame really.
The health related forums which I thought would be useful when I joined the community, have become white noise to me. Keto and Keto vs CICO seems to dominate a significant amount of space. The posters can get downright rude and those threads go on forever. You're right, it wears you out.
I do what works for me in the context of my personal life. So far I've had success and love my peoples here in the games section for being a fun and supportive bunch.2 -
...and grammar Nazi's. I know I can edit my posts, but sometimes I have no *kitten* to give about it.2

Me, too. It doesn't take a sledgehammer for newbies to figure out that's the safe haven. There's a pecking order in the chicken yard but some of us have no problem flying over the chicken coop. This ain't our first rodeo.
Pet peeve. Any pet that's kept in a coop or cage - their life force will fade away. Their health goes downhill and it's the same way with people. Food prisons are a liability that I cannot afford. Hugs and kisses all around to the supportive folks who want to see others succeed.
The 'kitten' thing. Don't really know what that means but I surmise = no longer give a rat's @$$ about any of it.

Hud54014. Would you consider starting a Judgment Free Zone thread where we can talk about things without pot shots being taken from across the bow. A safe haven for newbies or those who've recently joined the forum as an outlet. Where we can actually support one another without everything becoming a frickity frick frick king the hill O-Kay Corral dieting contest. A self-monitored Judgment Free Zone where we don't have to look at comments on other threads aimed directly at anyone for being a newbie or having some different opinions on just about everything. A safe place, no pot shots.0

This seems to have gone waaaay off the course i expected it to go... Which i guess with various backgrounds, personalities, opinions, was bound to happen.. I created this more as a way to offer suggestions on how MFP could be improved. What features you use, what features you wish it had, what parts are here that you just dont understand the reason for, etc.0

I'm a terrible thread owner and have the attention span of a fruit fly. But I would support such a thread if one were created. I like new people1 -
Alright.
Crochetmam, when you said, Pet Peeves...C'mon we all have them. Whats yours?
