Just tell me, please.

Sometimes I just need things spelt out for me:

I'm 5"11 and 182lbs, I work out 4 times a week (Usually running or Just Dance on Wii).

How many calories should I be eating a day?

Thanks in advance,

Please, no rude comments!

If you set upur profile properly, MFP will tell you exactly that. It's different for everyone depending on what your ultimate goal is.

According to your height and weight:

You maintain your current weight on Sedentary with 1959 calories per day.

To lose 1lb a week, you need to subtract 500 calories a day.

1959-500= 1459 if you do not exercise

Eat 1459+ exercise calories to keep the same 500 calorie deficit.

    I want to be 145lbs.
MFP says 1,520 a day but I was told that was too much by a friend...

    Thanks everyone!

Did the friend tell you why that would be too much?

Is your friend a dietician or something? Your friends needs are different than your needs.

Your friend wants to sell you her stuff. You can do this by eating regular food.

    1520 is probably fine.

ETA: You can also search for "in place of a road map" on the forums and do the calculations there.

I think 1500 is a good amount, and definitely not too little!

Fixed it for you. Your calculated maintenance is about 2500, so just do MFP's 1520+ exercise cals and you're about right for a 1lb a week.

1500+ is good. if you exercise a lot, you need even more calories.

You can see what MFP and the calculations tell you you should eat, but at the end of the day it's all just an estimate. You need to try a calorie figure and see how it pans out for you. 1500 a day sounds good to me, especially with your exercise. Try it, if you feel too hungry up it, if you feel you won't starve by cutting 100 cals, try that. See how much weight you end up losing and if is at the speed you want or adjust accordingly (1-2 pounds a week considered a healthy goal).

I respect Beachbody and their mission as I am a coach also (im also a CPT). What I have found with a good number of coaches is they believe what works for them will work with everyone. In turn, they only know generalized info with the programs they use. It all depends on what your goals are and your age, weight, activity level (which you may have posted earlier). It is what works for you not what works for her:)!
