I am new to the site and am curious if anyone here is from Maine. I would love to meet others from my area who are in need of encouragement and motivation to reach their goals just as I am. I would like to lose 60 lbs, but am trying not to become overwhelmed by that number and focusing on losing it in small increments. If I could lose a pound or two a week I would be happy. :-)

    Not Mainer - I'm a PA girl. Just became a member of MFP this morning. One big advice/motivation for all us out there who need to lose weight - whether a lot or a little. Don't look at the overall picture. Take it in baby steps. Don't say "I want to lose 60 pounds." Say "I'd like to lose 5 pounds." And when you get that five off, then say it again and again.... believe me, it's much more realistic to take it in baby steps. If you look at the big picture of perhaps 60+ pounds, right away you get into a "blah" moment and feel you'll never get there and already have a loss of hope. (At least I do!!). We're in this together, guys and dolls. One step at a time....
