I bet every person has unintentionally eaten bugs in their lifetime. The F.D.A. actually allows a certain percentage in our food. Google it!

    I'm in Japan right now.

So far this week I've eaten crickets and bees. I'll be having wasps in the coming days.

The crickets are good with beer or saké

The bees I found a bit too sweet due to preparation. I'm more of a savory guy.

I like to think I would try anything once, including insects. I've never eaten anything unusual in my life, but I'm open-minded.

I would only eat bugs if I was on a deserted island and I had nothing else to eat...but even then I'd try to get some fish first!!

    I do not like bugs.
I do not like them in any style.
I will not eat them fried or boiled.
I will not eat them poached or broiled.
I will not eat them soft or scrambled…
    Despite your argument well-rambled.

    Not in a box,
    Not with a fox,
    Not in a house,
    Not with a mouse,
    Not on a boat,
    Not with a goat,

I do not like green bugs and ham,
I do not like them, Sam-I-am.

Seriously, I am sure I have unintentionally and unknowingly consumed bugs but I would not do it on purpose (assuming that we aren't talking about a true survival situation).

Yes, if they were prepared with the intent to eat them I would try them.
  • so - you wouldn't eat bugs. Maybe you want to check this out. :o) I was absolutely shocked when my mother-in-law heard this on the news the other day. I guess if I can't taste it, it doesn't matter.

  • No, just no.

I'm terrified of bugs as it is, dead or alive.
    Couldn't eat them.

Have tried ant candy, but just couldn't get over the fact that I could see ants.

Would you or have you eaten insects?
I'm sure I have, but not knowingly.

Most people have since they dont know that theres a certain amount allowed by the FDA to be in food and still considered fit for humans. A certain amount of rodent hair is allowable as well.

    Bon Appétit!

Sure I would try them. If they were tasty I'd have them again.

And like someone said early on, what I'll eat when I'm a few days out from my last meal is a *much* longer list than what I'd eat for lunch today.

I ate ants eggs in Mexico and they were delicious - like fat rice.

In Selfridges in the UK you can buy candied scorpions, ants and other creepy crawlies.

Food is food - if it can be made to taste nice then why the hell not?

I don't like sake either. More power to you though! And being in Japan must be awesome. :)

Would you or have you eaten insects?

Yes I would, I've never had them but I'm very curious to taste them. My husband has had fire roasted wood ants... says the taste like bacon... then there's an alkaline aftertaste that gets strong after a couple handfuls.

Would you eat them if they were recognizable (ei: a fried cricket)?

    Sure would!

Would you eat them if they were not recognizable (ei: grounded into a powder and used in a recipe)?

You bet! I've seen meal worms grounded down into "flour" and used to bake!

would you ever eat them regularly, or "just to try"?

Little bit of both... I'd try everything once, if I liked it I'd try to incorporate it into my meals regularly!!

Did you know that insects were a good source of protein? Would knowing the health benefits and low environmental impact of insect farming change your mind about eating insects?

I did know! I'm a little too bugged out to raise them myself, but I've heard that they are easy to farm and grown in small spaces! You don't need acres of land to grow insects!!

I watch a lot of Bizarre Foods! :drinker:

Ok Dr. Seuss. LOL. But I hear ya.

It's a cultural thing. I know from TV that certain insects are high and protien and are delicious...but being from the West...I can't bring myself to eating them.
