Setting realistic goals

I have just signed up to an 8 week promotion at a local gym, with a potential to join longer term if I think it’s compatible with my routine.

I want to set a target to aim for by the end of the 8 weeks, but I don’t know what would be realistic. I have been counting calories for 3 weeks but my weight loss has not been linear (as I know it often isn’t especially early in a lifestyle change). I want to set a challenging target but I don’t want to be disheartened if I don’t succeed.

My weight loss target is 1 pound per week and I have 43 pounds to lose.

Any advice would be greatly received.

1lb per week is a healthy rate of loss. Go for it, do your best

It is an achievable target. Exercise gives you extra calories on MFP, try not to eat them as they are not always accurate. You may find more than 1lb a week in the early stages, keep that as a bonus as some weeks you won't lose any so getting slightly ahead is good.
