It's all a math equation... I have extra snacks in my desk for days I am hungry. If I eat more, I make sure to spend more time at the gym or outside working on the lawn, walking dog etc.

If you set yourself up for success with healthy snacks around 200 calories, it shouldn't make it impossible to make it up with exercise.

I do IF (not strictly), and generally don't eat my lunch until 12. Everyday I bring a bag with my lunch and snacks for the day and usually plan to have one small snack every hour. It's something to look forward to and nice way to break up the day. My snacks are usually a square of dark chocolate, a banana, 80 cal. cup of cottage cheese, a small bag of Pirate Booty and a bag of (freeze dried) apple chips. Diet Coke, Diet Raspberry Snapple, tea and my water bottle round things out. And I second (or third) sugar-free gum, especially mint.

I like the idea of homemade so im going to give it a go.

@bufger Just went down to my local Chinese place, brought home some great soup. It really helps.

I'm sure many of you can relate..

I'm having a slow day at work. Not many meetings, lots of paperwork to do. I'm sitting here typing away and because i'm so bored my stomach keeps talking to me. I'm drinking loads of water and waiting for as long as possible to start eating.

The old me would have eaten lunch before 11am (sometimes 10am) then bought snacks around 2pm...

Any tips/tricks to get over the craving?

"My minds telling me noooooo, but my body, my body is telling me yeeeeeeee-eeeeeeeessss"

I pack snacks with my lunch and part of my lunch is a generally a portion of veggies. If I am hungry, I start with the veggies at 11:00 or 11:30. Then eat lunch at noon. A diet soda or a cup of herbal tea mid day helps. My snack could be a sugar-free pudding cup, a 100 calorie bag of popcorn or Chai with milk & sugar.

Drinking load of water is worthless for me. Water IS boring, so it doesn't address bored eating.

Maybe put off breakfast longer. If it's true hunger (regularly) change up what you eat at breakfast.

For me, I find if I don't get at least a quarter of my daily protein goal for breakfast then I get the same kind of cravings. If I do breakfast with plenty of filling things (fats, protein, or fiber) then I usually don't even think about food till lunch time. I'm not saying that it will be the same for anyone else but I think the point is, rather than figuring out how to soothe the craving, find the craving trigger and then figure out how not to pull it. Good luck!

Yup, my urge to "boredom eat" essentially disappeared when I upped protein and reduced carbs from food made from wheat flour.

@bufger what are you eating for breakfast and lunch and what's the % of protein for those meals?
