Hello my name is Jessica, I am currently following a bariatric surgery path to losing weight. I have struggled with obesity for many years since I was in elementary school and I am now deciding that surgery will be the right path for me. I packed on the pounds while in college due to poor lifestyle choices and I am unfortunately experiencing the outcomes of such decisions. I am currently 327 pounds and hoping to reach 300 pounds by September if possible.

I am currently receiving help from my dietician and family physician but I would like to also seek help from anyone that has gone through any form of bariatric procedure in particularly the Sleeve gastrectomy.

I would, but I never had bariatric surgery. I was supposed to, then kept putting it off as I lost weight. I'm down 175lbs and am using the money I would have spent on WLS for a tummy-tuck to have my belly flap removed.

I don't personally have experience, but this group may be a great place to find others who do:

My only bit of advice would be to do whatever you can to learn as much as you can. When I hear stories about patients who regain the weight it is typically because they rely on the surgery to fix their situation, but don't take the time to educate the re-train themselves. Surgery can be a very useful tool, but make sure you understand calorie intake, nutrition, and work with your team to have a plan for long term maintenance.

    ~best wishes on your journey
