Lara Croft Fitness Challenge

Hi MFP community!!

I’ve been on MFP for a while now and lost about 3st in total (obviously mega proud of myself!)

However...
I’ve always been very private about it and kept my weight and weight loss to myself. I have changed home towns, jobs and friend groups in a kind of “leave the old me behind” way. Never proud of who I was or am and never acknowledging the work I’ve done. Now I feel it holding me back. Has anyone else done this?

BUT I’ve just activated my Instagram account at melissadepport to bare all to the world? Just working up the confidence to post a before and after!

Now, MFP has supported me from 13st to 10st, but now I want to be fitter, stronger and more confident, so I’ve set myself a challenge... the mother of all challenges... I’ve set myself the challenge to get as fit as Lara Croft... LARA tomb raider galore CROFT!

I’ve decided to share my story with the Instagram world to help me stay accountable - is there anyone else who wants to join me in this challenge?? Or just follow my progress, encourage me and cheer me on? Im plucking up the courage to share a before and after of me from fat to slim, but not sure... I guess I just need some encouragement!!!

Who’s with me??

Let’s Lara!

Which version of Lara are you aspiring too? Neither Angelina Jolie or Alicia Vikander really appeal to me as "fit". Attractive and slim - yes, but super fit and athletic? On screen they do some incredible stuff that even a top CrossFit competitor or American Ninja Warrior contestant would balk at - but it's movie magic. ;)

... or are we talking the computer game character? She's mostly built to appeal to males who get to stare at her from the rear for hours as they play. :)

Don't feel embarrassed about posting progress pics on this site. It's probably the best possible place to post such pictures - this community, although sometimes a bit argumentative about some things, is nothing but supportive of such progress pics and stories. Head on over the the "Success Stories" thread and you will see what I mean.

    jseams1234, Thanks :)

I know what you mean... I’m not a big angelina fan... haven’t got the boobs for that! And I’m not aiming to have pointy pixelated baldy parts haha!

I guess I more mean the Lara Croft mindset, athletic ability and the fact that she’s actually got muscles. Alicia Vikander (although really small in real life) in the movie is shown boxing, using weights and generally being fit. Plus her abs one scene in the move are amazing!

It’s not necessarily the actor / game character, more that I just like the Lara Croft idea in my head and it’s always been something I aspire to... I could aim to be ‘as fit as’ a celeb etc. but it’s more something I know!

I’ve actually used this Lara Croft idea to the head to the gym, use the induction programme and use the free weights & joined the HIIT and rigfit classes!

I will have a look at success stories, thank you :)

Lara Croft was probably my first ever fitness/attitude idol! Angelina-Lara, that is, I haven’t even seen the reboot. At one point, my workout playlist was named ”Lara’s party mix” as a reference to the first scene where she’s training against the weird machine monster. I wholeheartedly support you, I’m here for the attitude! This time I have personally decided to not aim for a specific physique or real-life role model, tho.

So I’ve been crafting up some workouts to hit various parts of the body - but I would love input from anyone who knows any better /more!

I will post the different workouts for different areas :) but I’ve been trying to work on functional movements, so any ideas welcome!

    Workout 1:
    - warm up with 15 body weight squats & 1 minute of high knees

***all below for 1 minute, 10 seconds between ***
    - Burpee, jump over a box, burpee the other side, jump back over box, repeat
    - Step ups on box as fast as possible
    - Squat dumbbell press into air
    ***repeat 2-3 set***

    - plank 1 minute to start abs HIIT
    - Sixes - lay on floor and hold legs 6 in above floor
    - Twelves - legs 12 in above floor
    - Crunches holding dumbells & twists 4X (twice each side)
    - Vsit crunches
    - Plank 1 minute

End with walking lunges & dumbbell press into air
When you feel like you’re going to die, sprint (or shuttle runs) for 1 minute.

Let me know what you think #laracroftchallenge !
