Under 1,000 Calories

I worked today (Friday) and I had a light breakfast and lunch made me full. (I cook for kids at this private school and I bring my own food.) I even made myself eat a banana for Dinner to make my calories at least 730. I sleep before going to work at midnight. (4pm to 10pm) I didn't want to force myself to eat because, I thought the point was to control and eat only when hungry. Should I put calories from my night shift on to Friday or just stay under like I actually did.

You should never regularly be under your goal. Whatever number MFP gave you, eat to that. The odd day isn't going to hurt, but making it a habit leads to bad short and long term negative effects you don't want. Feeling hungry or not is not always a sign that you're hungry or not; I could go quite a few days in a row without eating if I relied purely on hunger signals (which I absolutely do not advocate at all!).10

I feel like it will only be Friday's. Every other day, I struggle to stay under my calorie goal. My main concern was, if I don't eat that amount today, I feel like I'll binge eat the next day. I'm trying to steer clear from that.1 -
Really it's the average over the week that matters, if you do want to try and bump it up a bit you could always add some calorie dense foods to your food on that day (nuts, oils, nut butters, dressings, avocados, etc) or chocolate is always an option, at least in my day5

Thank you, in the past it was about feeling fat and disgusting. Now, its just, I feel full. I ate a salad a hour ago and I actually moved the cheese around because, I felt like I put way to much cheese on it. Trust me, two weeks ago, I wouldn't have cared and would have ate every bite. Now, I just feel like its a waste of calories if I force myself to eat.2 -
I work nights and I quite often have to skip my meal before I go to work simply because I am too tired to cook and need the extra hours sleep. What I then do if I am under my calories is eat something smallish when I get to work and also have my regular meal but a bit later than usual. Or I can have an extra treat heavy on calories and add it to the day before then try an stick to my calorie goal that day. I often add calories on to the day before and if I have gone over add them to the next day. I don't think it matters as long as it balances out over the week.1

I bought these amazing chocolate cookies few days ago. I've had two in three days. (Wednesday, Thursday, but NOT Friday.) I was super proud of myself for not taking advantage of my good day and eating something bad for me. One cookie is like 350 calories. (Ridiculous.) I thought about buying a bag of mixed nuts to satisfy small craving.0 -

Once a week isn't an issue. Lots of people work on a weekly calorie allowance rather than daily.
Some people do 5:2 fasting with 2 very low calorie days (but the 5 days aren't at a deficit).
A binge would be out of control eating not just eating a bit more when hungry. Is that something that you have done in the past?
If you are attempting to eat to hunger signals then it should be working both ways not just when eating less.1 -

I didn't mean to word it, internally like that. I'll allow myself treat here and there. I just expect better of myself to not do it every single day. Plus, the dessert wasn't the best choice. Ice cream sandwichs are 180 calories. Satisfies sweet tooth and lower calories.0 -

When I was younger, I would binge. However, that was always during the weekend of my school year. I would do sports and workout a lot during the weekdays and lazy during the weekends. I know now, it isn't healthy but, then I had no idea what I was doing was wrong. I did a lot of unhealthy diets or workout to much or stressed about one thing or another to much. I made my mistakes and I guess thats why I'll worry about every little thing I do this time around. I don't want to mess up. Right now I feel like I'm doing great and taking my time to ease myself into a diet I can do for years. Not a few months and gain all my weight back when I quit. I got concern when something went right because, I could be wrong. Its nice to hear that its normal to do it here and there. Thank you.3 -

I am the opposite. When I am eating a salad and starting to get full too far under my calories I push the low calorie stuff like lettuce out of the way and concentrate on the cheese and other higher calorie items.
It doesn't matter what you do in a day. As mentioned some people do 500-800 calories twice a week as part of their diet to enjoy higher calorie days the other 5.
My only concern is what @kommodevaran touched on in his post. I once had the idea that some food was bad and it led to many failures. I was also, at times, afraid of calories and that led to failure. Now I am relaxed, I am losing weight, and I have settled in and most days I am comfortable and satisfied. This is the lifestyle part of the equation that I thought was something made up by people who were trying to force themselves to believe they loved dieting.5 -
If your weekly average is fine, one day will not hurt you. Now, regularly eating way below suggestion is not good for you.
So just like one bad day going way over, one bad day going way under is not bad in the long run. Besides, anyone that's ever had a stomach bug or nasty cold has had at least one day they went under by a lot.
Don't stress out about it.4 -

True, I didn't think about it that way. Plus, I always saw being a little over one day wasn't bad but, when it comes to under it was weird to me.1 -

Sure thing. I think because of the focus on losing weight and setbacks generally being going over, that going under is just weird. None of us got to being heavy by being consistently under... I know I didn't!!!
I do remember one day a few years ago that I had a 500 calorie day. My diet was mostly NyQuil, Pepto, then a can of Sprite and 1/2 a cup of oatmeal, because that was all I could keep down. Now, if you saw that... Would you think that someone is being unhealthy, or know that that is just illness and it happens. Yeah...1
