Our body does not stay the same weight all day long, it is continually fluctuating by the food and water intake and using the toilet.1

One lb is nothing. My weight can fluctuate in a 5lb range day to day.2

Weight loss isn't linear0 -
It is normal for your weight to fluctuate.

You probably haven't actually gained, it's simply that weight fluctuates daily due to different factors. There's sodium intake (sodium can cause water retention), what you recently ate or didn't (example, you're likely going to weigh more after eating than you do when you first wake up in the morning), if you've started exercising regularly recently (you could be retaining water as part of the body's muscle repair process), if it's your time of the month (menstrual cycles affect weight), medications, and so on. It's good to remember that fluctuations are normal and part of weight loss, and that getting caught up in those fluctuations can be detrimental to your goals. (In my case, I have a set weigh-in day so I'm NOT focused on them, and can concentrate on what's important for me: seeing that scale number continue to fall.)1

Increased sodium/carb intake, especially if you’ve recently gone out to eat
Increased hormones related to your menstrual cycle
New or increased exercise
Stress
Any of the above will cause water retention that can mask weight loss. As long as you’re logging everything as accurately as possible it will come off.1 -
