Filipino Friends

I would very much enjoy making friends with as many Filipino people as possible. Age and gender are not an issue whatsoever. Here's why: My brother married a wonderful, kind, and extremely intelligent Filipino woman what has to be around 10 years ago. I'm an uncle to their beautiful daughter and another daughter on the way. Although my brother's wife's father speaks broken English, he's a huge Chicago Bears fan like me so we can talk some football. I always enjoy hearing his perspective. The problem I'm having is her entire family speaks little to no English and the end result is always massive unintentional segregation at family get togthers. At my niece's birthday party, there was no interaction between the families at all. So.......I want to be the one who changes that. I deeply desire to learn their language so I can at least tell them it's an honor to be related to them and so I can perform at least some simple small talk. I'm embarrassed that I cannot interact with them. I would like to become friends with as many Filipino people as possible to help me through the adventure of learning a language from what I'm told is hard to learn. They speak Tagalog. So......I hope all the totally awesome people of MFP can help me out! Don't be afraid to shoot me PM's and FR's!!!! :-)
