Trochanteric Bursitis - help

Hi Everyone,

I have managed to give myself hip bursitis by running too much while I am a hefty size. :( I knew that injury was a possibility running while over weight but it is also a great way to get your weight down. My fitness plans have been thwarted and I can do little more than a brisk walk on the flat until it gets better. I have been told to lose weight but avoid repetitive exercise! Surely, the one needs the other? Any suggestions on how to get it better, or things to do so as to maintain my cardio while it heals will be very greatly appreciated. Thanks. :)

weight loss is 100% what you eat. if you eat in a deficit, you will lose weight.

some people find it easier to create that deficit by exercising, but you can definitely lose weight without it.

The one does NOT surely need the other. It makes it, perhaps, a bit easier. Certainly more fun. But 100% of your loss comes from taking in less calories than you spend. And the vast majority of your calories you spend by existing!

What does your doctor suggest in terms of alternatives for physical activity or physical therapy? Try those suggestions.

What about doing Pilates or yoga for now? You will definitely see a change to the muscles in your body and it will be a great way to prep your body to run for when you are able to begin again.
