Apple Watch Fitness Updates Coming with WatchOS 5 this fall.

For all my fellow Apple Watch users, some of these updates seem promising!

I'm interested to see the improvements to the Yoga tracking. I'm almost certain it over calculates my expended calories in Yoga class, so I never eat back those in full. I haven't gone hiking with my watch yet, so I'll have to do that sometime before the update and compare it this fall.

Oh it most definitely overestimates yoga - I'm not burning brisk walk calories while in a forward bend, you know? This is an exciting update - the auto tracking especially will be nice but take some getting used to.

If anyone hasn't got it already, check out WorkOutDoors if you walk, run or hike outside a lot, great app (paid).

I need to re-calibrate my apple watch. I will do an hour long hard workout at Orange Theory and will tell me I did 8 minutes of exercise. My stand alone heart rate monitor gives a completely different story.

So far the Apple Watch 3 has been great at the gym doing weights and cardio , I’m sure it’s not spot on but it gives you a good idea how much your burning .. I can’t wait for the update and the watch 4 😜

Calibrating your watch and choosing the correct workouts for activities is super important. I would definitely start over if that is what you got from an OT session.
