Nearly five years ago now I downloaded this app and started tracking my calories. I gave up, succumbing to the same cycle that would persistently get in the way of my goals for the following years. I would count, be bothered by my failures, and quit. I never once considered tracking the trends, looking at when I failed and why, or anything of that measure. I was more concerned with making excuses and getting what I wanted. High calorie, greasy food.
Why am I back? Well, that's the problem with me. I'm too stubborn. I have, for years, attacked this over and over again. In the meantime I've also addressed my alcoholism, other addictions, and begun following my calling. I have a successful job and career at the moment- but most importantly I have two kids that are effectively mine who I need to be there for.
So here we are. I'm Gabe, that's what I'd like to go by, and I wanted to say hello.
If you are struggling, want to add a friend, or just want to nod and say hello back I invite you into my corner of struggle. We're all battling here to make a better 'me' and you don't have to do it alone.
A scale is on the agenda this week, I've been tracking my progress going on two weeks but this path started up again nearly a month ago. I'll be making regular updates to the blog on my page as a way of supporting myself.

I appreciate the folks at myFitnessPal for providing an app and space for the community to mingle. I hope to make some friends of you all and work towards a better 'me'. Thanks.

Looking to change your lifestyle is the right approach. Biggest piece of advice I'd give you is do what you enjoy, because that will be sustainable. For some it's Keto, for some it's flexible dieting (me!), for some its super strict M-F creating enough deficit to cheat a little on the weekend, others need to be strict 24/7 or they fall off. Whatever it is for you, ignore all the "you should try X! I dropped 20lbs!". What works for me very well may not work for you.2
