So close to my goal weight...but I snack too much at night!

I do so well during the day and then once 4pm hits, I get into snacking mode! I also have the all or nothing attitude which doesn’t help because I then decide if I’ve already eaten too much I’ll just try again tomorrow. Lol but it happens more days than not. Just need encouragement to be consistently eating well. Any tips?

My suggestion is don't stop snacking, just snack smarter. Plan and log your evening snacks ahead of time so that you can eat within your goal throughout the day. Be realistic about your plan.2

yeah I always want snacks in the evening as well. One thing I can combat it with is chewing gum and making decaf ice tea (like fruit flavors). Or if I'm really desperate i'll go out and buy myself an iced tea at the coffee shop because buying something makes it feel like i'm getting a treat, even though it's got no calories.0

I always make tea at that time! I find an apple, little mandarin oranges, or sweet cherry tomatoes help curb my appetite too. Have a healthy afternoon snack handy and make it a little relaxing ritual if possible. Buy some fruit or vegetables you love so you get excited for yout snacktime.2

I'm just the same but my 'snack time' is as soon as I come through the door, whatever time that is, whether its 4pm, 5pm, 6pm or even 8pm I find myself almost compelled to stuff my face,. Now I KNOW that I'm not compelled and can avoid the situation by doing 1 of 2 things - 1. Dont have the stuff in the house to snack with - no biscuits 'for the kids', no chocolate 'to eat over the course of the week', no rice cakes to have with jam/peanut butter, no crisps 'as a treat for Friday cos I've been so good/because I've had a *kitten* week and I want them'!!
2. Go straight upstairs, get changed and head out for a bike ride/walk/run something which will get me out of the house for an hour! Somehow when I get back in, the urge to snack is overtaken by the desire to cook and eat something healthy, usually a mushroom omelette!1 -
Kitten should have read s***!!!1

Look at the calories you generally consume for snacks. Cut out those fom your day and you won't go over. You can also try to workout a bit more to help.
Another option is simply changing your snacks to something that has fewer calories.0 -
Snacking is the same problem I have. I have some good days and bad days. The bad days can be real bad. I have my best weeks when I don't bring the snacks into the house in the first place.0

I also feel the urge to snack around 3-4:00 while I'm at work. I have been drinking a protein shake (90 calories and 16g of protein) to tie me over until I get home from work. As soon as I get home from work, I change into workout clothes and leash the dogs up for a run and then when we get back is when I start dinner. My point: distraction - keep yourself active and moving or doing something so your brain isn't focused on food all the time.
I also pre-log my food so that I know before I eat something if I am leaving enough calories for the rest of the day.0
