Bursitis pain

I think I may have bursitis in my left hip. For the past three weeks I’ve been feeling it but it has gotten much worse in the last several days. It’s frustrating because I love jogging but now I can barely walk. Ibuprofen helps slightly but not much. Seeing an orthopedist on Tuesday. Anyone else ever deal with this and have advice? I am miserable and worried.

Please don’t be worried, it will be okay. I have not had bursitis, but I have had tendinitis. My advice is to rest your hip and keep up with the ibuprofen. I hope you feel better soon.0

For me, piriformis stretches can be helpful when my bursitis starts to kick up. If you Google that or search on YouTube, you'll get a clearer explanation of "piriformis stretch" than I could ever hope to express in text. Doing these regularly to keep tuned up is the best strategy, IMO, versus waiting for another round of acute problems to develop.
if recommend that you ask your orthopedist for a physical therapy referral, then do the exercises those folks suggest. I've found PTs to be practically magic.
Short term, ice after exercise, moist heat later (Jacuzzi, hot(ish) Epsom salt bath, sauna/steambath) might help. At worst, it can help relax compensating tensed areas.
Hope you get some relief, and can comfortably resume regular jogging.0
