Rice: cooked vs raw

Ok, so I'm making rice for my meal preps this week. A serving of rice is 1/4 cup (47g). Now I want to make 5 servings, so obviously I know to just measure that serving size out 5 times. However, as we know, rice expands when you cook it. How do I measure the rice once it's cooked to ensure I'm not eating more than one serving for my meal preps?

Weigh the total after you cook it and divide by 5.6

Or use an entry for cooked rice (ie 100 grams) and weigh out your portions.1

As someone who cooks a lot of different types of rice, the cooked weight of rice varies wildly depending on the variety (short vs medium vs long grain, white vs brown vs red vs black etc). Much better to measure out the dry weight and divide it into five equal portions after cooking.1 -
Also, if you know how much you put in, and it’s only for you, unless you really care about having the same amount of rice every day, it doesn’t really matter if you’re exact on a serving to serving basis. If you made 1000 calories of rice (for example), it doesn’t matter if it’s 200 each day or a little more some, a little less others. It’s still 1000 calories of rice and will balance out over the week.5
