Eating exercise calories

Hi I’ve seen a lot on here where people say whether or not to eat your calories burned. I have a Fitbit linked and as I move around in general during the day my calorie intake goes up and that doesn’t include exercise. So can I eat those or should I not have my Fitbit linked???

Yes, in general you should eat them, at least some of them, until you determine how accurate your FitBit is and the impact it has on your progress.. FitBit is a total activity tracker and the adjustments you see are a reconciliation of what MFP thought you would burn, based on your stats and activity level you entered, and what FitBit says you actually burned - whether you exercise or not. If you get a positive adjustment that means you’re burning more than MFP thought you would and in order to keep your net goal consistent, you should eat back the cals. Some people start with only eating back about 50-75% of the adjustments but many people (myself included) have found it to be very accurate and a great help in achieving weight loss goal and keeping it off.3 -
MFP uses the NEAT method (Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis), and as such this system is designed for exercise calories to be eaten back. However, many consider the burns given by MFP to be inflated and only eat a percentage, such as 50%, back. Others, however, are able to lose weight while eating 100% of their exercise calories.
My FitBit One is far less generous with calories than the MFP database and I comfortably eat 100% of the calories I earn from it back.
