Context: Each summer my family and I are fortunate enough to travel during the month of July. We typically stay in campgrounds (KOA's). There will be a couple hotels along the way as well as staying with friends. There will be walking and hiking during the trip but also some longer days in the car traveling to our destinations.
Question: What are some of your "go-to" exercises that you do while traveling? Cannot bring a lot of equipment and would be doing most of the exercises at a campsite. I plan on running a few days a week in the morning but looking for some other ideas to incorporate.
Thank you in advance for any ideas/suggestions!

You could do some cooler deadlifts. If you have jugs of water, maybe do some bicep curls with those.2

Can you fit a set of adjustable dumbbells in your car? Or even just one dumbbell?1

We're going to Wrigley field next month & I've already scoped out 2-3 9Rounds in the area & I can get a couple of workouts in. Find a good tree to do pull ups, push ups anywhere, lunges (especially weighted ones) & planks1

I've never traveled for that extended of a time, but if it were me, I'd just stick with the hiking and walking and jogging and maybe throw in some body weight work.3

There's always a few dumbbells in my car. I don't know where you're headed but take it back outside. Be careful if you're headed into deep wilds of bear or grizzly country with your kids. Wear a backpack, use your poles and pull yourself up some steeper hills and ridges. Enjoy your vacation.1

Great thing about body weight exercises is you always have your "gym" nearby. "exercises at a campsite" really? hiking, jogging, running, swimming to just name a few. Several camp grounds I have been to have an exercise circuit for it's guests to use. Check into that. If all else fails, 12 ounce curls and make up for it when you return.1

hiking, jogging.
push ups, pull ups if there is a play gym. swimming. planks. boats. and other bodyweight exercises1 -
Have you considered a TRX or similar suspension trainer? If you've got a tree you can attach it to or a hotel room door (with the appropriate attachment) you've got a gym....1

Resistance bands

Run the hotel's steps in their stairwells.1

Cycling ... I've been accompanied by a bicycle on most of my travels.1

Walk, jog or bike. Simple.0

I rarely use gyms when on vacation. A couple of times maybe. I usually do a lot of sightseeing so walk everywhere, and sometimes hike or swim.1

I have Nerdfitness' basic bodyweight routine and a couple of HasFit routines jotted down on my phone. If I have a low activity day I will run through one of those, usually the Nerdfitness. (All at 15 min so I can fit them in any time and almost any where)

Going back to this. The reason I mentioned it is you can get a good workout with one or two dumbbells. If I were going to be on the road for a month I'd take one 25 lb dumbbell and do a full body workout twice a week with it. Varying the reps according to the exercise (e.g., more goblet squats than single arm shoulder presses with 25 lbs) would work. Goblet squats and single arm db bench/shoulder press/RDL/rows would work. Depending on how heavy the dumbbell is for you, you could do the work as a complex rather than regular sets.2 -
You can a lot just using your body. Bring a jump rope!
When I need a quick strength workout I do something like -
Jump rope 3 minutes
50 push ups
50 crunches
50 jack knifes (V ups)
50 bicycle crunches
50 mountain climbers
50 dips (use the bumper of your car or a bench)
50 squats
50 lunges
Repeat 3 times

When I am in a hotel, I'll often go to a gym. Hotel gyms suck. But the desk can usually tell you where the nearest gym is and, if you are lucky, the hotel may even have an agreement with the gym that lets you in cheap or free.1

Resistance bands, any body weight exercise, squats, push ups, jumping jacks, burpees. Look up desk exercises-you can do any of these using a picnic table.
Honestly, I workout so I can GO on vacation, I rarely workout while ON vacation because my vacation IS my workout.
Have fun!2
