Day 2

No headache and I’m not hungry so it’s a good day. I just hope I can stick to this it’s hard Psychologically not to eat. I’m doing shakes and pudding with Dr. this time, but I have failed so many times. I’m planning on following this for 2 months then try to eat on my own. I realize I don’t have to lose as much as some but 40lbs is a lot to me!

40lbs may seem like a lot, but in reality it's not that much, and not something that warrants a shake/pudding (whatever that means) plan from your Dr.
I would honestly recommend learning to eat in a sustainable way now, to lose the weight in a way that isn't so restrictive. I don't know about you, but I love food, and the idea of replacing food calories with shakes makes me sad.3 -
i've never had "headaches" or an expectation of this kind of thing using MFP - I think this shakes thing is not sustainable, as @livingleanlivingclean has said. Why not just make changes to your diet and track what you are eating on here. Then you can find a sustainable way to eat the appropriate amount of calories each day with foods you really enjoy and that make you feel good.
I think the point of long term sustainable weight loss is to reinvent your relationship with food - in a positive way. And I don't think shakes/puddings will help toward that. Personally I would start adding in more healthy options of what you like to eat and wean off the shakes thing. Otherwise you may end up 40 lbs down then 40 lbs up or worse.1 -
I agree with you both and this is not forever just a jump start. It’s a Keto diet plan. High protein low carbs, less than 50 a day. It’s more like Atkins.
I realize I can’t do this long term nor would I want to.

So why do it now?
A "jump start" isn't necessary... You aren't a car. If you want to eat lower carb, you can do that with food and it would be more enjoyable and sustainable. Most people who eat lower carb compensate with higher fat/moderate protein.
Realise that by lowering carbs, your body drops water weight quickly. Your initial weight loss may appear greater, but fat loss isn't any different to the rate you'd lose eating more carbs.
If you're also eating low calories to achieve a rapid rate of loss, you're likely to lose a lot of muscle. Your physique at your goal weight may not be the look you're aiming to achieve. Losing weight more slowly and doing some resistance training can help you retain muscle as you lose weight so you get a leaner, more defined physique...3 -
I'm confused. Is there a medical reason you are following a Dr. prescribed plan? Wishing you much success, just trying to understand. I'm interested in hearing what your doctor has suggested.0

You're not supposed to have a headache or hunger to lose weight. Your body sheds excess fat when you're in a calorie deficit, it just takes time. Why do you follow a diet that you, on the second day, think is hard, and only hope you can stick to? It's psychologically hard not to eat all the time and as much as you're used to, even when you're on a reasonable diet! Your food choices are always your own. What do you think happens when you go off this diet? Why do you think you have failed before? What is different this time? And what is similar?3

The keys to success in weight loss are adherence, sustainability and consistency. Does this diet check all those boxes for you?2

I hope you are having a better day today. If you are having trouble, let's talk it out. Lots of very helpful people that may be able to assist with some details of your goals.0
