Calculations state that I can only consume 1284 calories a day to lose my goal of 50 pounds. I’m doing great, but struggling when it comes to late nights and wanting to eat knowing good well that isn’t going to help. I need encouragement and tips to beat those late night cravings. Add me as a friend, and lend a girl some helpful advice.

What did you choose as your desired rate of loss per week?

Get involved in some kind of activity when you get cravings.
Walk around, read a book, drink a glass of water. Tell your self how happy you will be tomorrow to not have given in to temptation.

Hey hun! Welcome. I have a ton of weight to lose and I’m new here too. Have you tried edamame? I like to snack on that because it requires a ton of chewing. So I really feel like I’m eating a lot even though I’m not.

Pay atteeeention to what janejellyroll says. MFP doesn't give you a calorie target based on your goal weight (I really really wish setup would stop implying that), but on the weekly rate of loss you pick, along with your height, weight, sex, age and activity level before exercise (I really really wish they would explain that). "No more than 1% of your bodyweight" is a good rule of thumb. A modest, but consistent calorie deficit, is way more effective for weightloss than aiming too low, because you just can't keep it up (if you do, you'll be sick, so don't even try).

Change your rate to 1lb/week. You'll be where you want in a year. That time is going to pass anyway. How miserable do you want it to be? Once you've done that, save a couple of those calories for snacking at night. Unless it causes you heartburn, there is nothing wrong with snacking, even right before bed.
