Hi gang, I've just been told by Dr that I have fibromyalgia, it's proper doing my head in! Anyways, if anyone in mfp world has it too, how'd ya manage with food/exercise as it can be a struggle 😊

my brother has it as well. I just know that the more whole fresh foods that you eat the better the pain seems to be. Also on you-tube there are some videos that comment on the subject- good luck

I walk. Mainly my diet has been what helped me lose weight. Fibromyalgia just makes me hurt but walking is easy enough to do most days. Since the weight has come down and I'm carrying less weight it has gotten easier. Start slow and work up.

I have it. Makes no impact on what I eat, except smaller portions. I still do regular cardio workouts (jogging, walking, spinning, step aerobic DVDs) and moderate weight training. But when my body says rest I listen and lower the intensity and add rest days as needed. Exercise helps control my pain. All of this was approved by my doctor of course.

I have MCS which has some overlap with FM. What helped me was first reading The Brain That Changes Itself: Stories of Personal Triumph from the Frontiers of Brain Science and then taking a Dynamic Neural Retraining workshop. Some of the attendees had FM and were helped by this.

The book and the workshop aren't by the same person - reading the book let me see the potential in the workshop. The book is available in my library system, so perhaps yours as well.

Meanwhile, do exercise as your body allows.
