Time zone eating strategies

I've been doing a lot of travel that has me switching back and forth from the east coast to west coast frequently. I find nothing more aggravating than being starving for lunch...only to realize it's 9 am, not 12 pm. I have another trip coming up tomorrow and will be on a plane from 5 pm EST to 8 pm PST and then am supposed to meet a colleague for dinner. If anyone else is in the same boat and has found a way to avoid eating 4 meals a day instead of 3, let me know!!!

So you are looking at dinner about 12pm EST? Yuck. I'd grab a small "dinner" at the airport (maybe a sandwich you can eat on the plane) and then just stick with a healthy appetizers for your "dinner" with colleague (tuna sashimi is a go to for me).

Honestly, for me, when travelling like that, I use sleep as a weapon.

Can't eat if you're not awake and you use less energy.

Lol, opened this thread out of curiosity to see what new "magic" diet this was.... Seriously tho I would try eating an appetizer instead of dinner for your meal with the colleague. Shrimp if not fried can be a low calorie option and lots of protein, skip the butter. Most nicer restaurants serve a shrimp cocktail appetizer and maybe a non creamy soup?

I've been in the same boat the last few weeks. I've started traveling with a supply of beef jerky and trail mix (I like Trader Joe's Simply the Best). As a snack, they're substantial enough to be a mini-meal and tide me over until whatever a meal time in the new time zone might be.

Wish I could fall asleep easily on an airplane! I'm the worst sleeper.

Thanks for all these ideas for light fare/apps at the restaurant.

And LOL @cheryldumais --maybe I'll event one if I figure this out!
