hi, is anybody successfully using the Apple health /watch in conjunction with logging food consumption on MyFitnessPal , to get a picture of my comprehensive calorie intake/burn ? I’m totally confused with what device is the source of what ? , and the general flow of information between these apps and devices.

The flow is from the Health app to MFP and back, the Watch and the Activity app just feed Health. Explore the Health app a bunch, it's not exactly intuitive but there's a ton of info there.

If you have MFP under "sources" in the Health app, don't worry about what the MFP app says you have going on, it's a hot mess.

The steps integration just doesn't work, don't try to make it a thing, it's not a thing. Sometimes you'll see some, but don't get attached, they're gonna go away if you push a workout from the AW that day.

Workouts will get logged just fine to MFP as long as you use avoid the "other" workout names like HIIT which MFP will ignore. Use the presets as far as possible, and plain "other" for other.

There is a third party app called CaliCalo which will probably give you what you are looking for - it takes an average of your daily resting cals for the week according to Health (ie AW), applies the calories in (from MFP via Health) and gives your your remaining cals according to your Apple setup. These will be a little higher than MFP if you have that set to sedentary. Your sweet spot will be somewhere between CaliCalo's number and MFP's.

In addition to what MelanieCN77 posted, another app that integrates well for CICO purposes is FITiv. I log my workouts there. After keeping a couple of months data, I changed my MFP activity setting to "lightly active" and the expected results of what I've been recording as CICO now are spot on.

@MelanieCN77 thank you for the tip about CaliCalo app - I will be trying that to see if I can fine tune things a bit 👍🏻
