    Starting weight - 249.5 - March 2017
    Lowest weight - 202 - December 2017
Goal weight 183 (planned maintenance range 180-186)

6/29/18 - 208.5 - Making a fresh start for Onederland after Independence Day.
7/6/18 - 209.5 - A little temporary gain from the holiday carb fest. Here we go!
7/12/18 - 210.5 - Arrggghhhh! The bad news - the scale is going the wrong way. The good news - I'm getting my workouts in - lifting numbers are going up - I'm staying under my calorie target. Next week will be better.
7/26/18 - 209 - slowly moving in the right direction. Lifting numbers still going up. Getting most of the workouts in. Logging all the food - looks like I should lower the calorie target just a bit.

8/2/18 - 209 - turns out yesterday's whoosh was just a tease. DAMMIT! Oh, well - maintenance is good. Ate Tex-Mex in a restaurant last night. I probably should be pleased with a flat line. HAHA! :)
8/9/18 - 207.5 - Great - some progress, finally. And I saw 206 again earlier in the week. Onward and downward!
8/16/18 - 208 - AARRGGHH! - Getting frustrated here. I keep telling myself "Maintenance is good. You're not gaining. LIfting numbers are still going up." Regardless, I'd like to see some slow weight loss - just not this slow. HAHA! :D
8/23/2018 - 205 - Holy whoosh, Batman! And I saw 204 earlier in the week. Finally some progress! YAY!
8/30/2018 - 204.5 - I'll take it! Not my best week, program wise. I am happy to see a small loss. Onward and downward!

9/6/2018 - 206.5 - Been skipping some workouts and walking and also eating more. No surprise that weight is up a bit after the holiday carbfest. I did see 203.5 on the scale last Sunday, so that was encouraging. Need to be more consistent on the workouts.
9/20/2018 - 208.5 - Missed last week's weigh in. Up a bit today - eating too much some days, still. Need more discipline! Weights going up - so that's a positive.
9/27/2018 - 205 - welcome to the roller coaster. Maintaining in the 204-210 range for several months now. I'm going to restrict calories for a few weeks to see if I can get a slow, steady loss going.

10/4/2018 - 204 - YAY! Lowered my calorie target to 2000 per day. A bit of a struggle some days. Will try this for six weeks and see if I can get to Onederland.
10/11/18 - 205 - and I saw 202 earlier in the week. I think I'm on the right track. The trend is slowly downward. It's hard to be patient, though.
10/21/18 - 208.5 - that's what being away from home at meetings and restaurants and no logging will do. Was away and unable to weigh in last Thursday. We shall see if the gain is temporary.

11/1/18 - 210 - Had a great time on the river. Did not log most of the food and drink. Back at it now that Halloween is over.
11/29/18 - 206 - Back to working out more and logging everything. I should be pleased with maintenance. Never satisfied, though. Will keep striving for Onederland.

12/5/18 - 203.5 - The Libra trend line is downward again. YAY! Now to get through "cookie season"!
12/1218 - 205.5 - AARRGGHH! Have done well staying under calories most days. Although yesterday I wanted to eat everything in sight. I'm not giving up, but this plateau stuff is getting old.The trend line is down, but it looks like I will be in this 210-204 range forever. Advice, anyone?

    Hey Steve,

Don't beat yourself up. Look around. Plenty of us are riding the mass roller coaster right now. It is going to feel GREAT when we start to woosh back down. I'll toast to you when you again report under 199.9, and I know it's not far away.

I thought about joining this challenge when it started, but I was so close to my goal weight, I opted not to.

I got to my goal weight and then maintained my goal weight ~range~ for about two months. I joined a maintainer challenge. That felt pretty good.

Then I had a two week trend of fairly linear increase that put me out of my goal range, and I kicked back into loss mode. I am back in my goal range as of this morning, and I plan to stay there, but if y'all don't mind a maintainer checking in here, I think it's another way to make sure that I am still in my goal range through Decembral Solstice.

For grins, I'll fill in some weekly Friday weigh-in data from my log.
My goal range is 142 - 148, and my current weight is 147.2

    Here goes!

    About me
    Name: It's ME!
Age: About a year older than I was last year. You might say "middle aged."
    Height: Just under 5' 7".
    HEAVIEST weight: 175.4
Total Weight lost: 30 pounds since January 2018
    Maintenance weight range: 142 - 148

    6/29: 148.8
    7/6: Traveling (146.6 on 7/8)
    7/13: 144.8
    7/20: Traveling (147.4 on 7/22)
    7/27: 145.2
    8/3: 145.2
    8/10: Traveling (145.0 on 8/11)
    8/17: 148.6
    8/24: 148.6
    8/31: 147.2
    9/7: 148.6
    9/14: 148.8
    9/21: 149.0
    9/28: 147.8
    10/5: Traveling (146.8 on 9 October)
    10/12: 144.4 :)
    10/19: 145.6 :)
    10/26: 146.0
    11/02: 146.6 :(
    11/09: 148.2 :(
    11/15: 150.2 :(
    11/22: 147.2 :)
11/29: 147.0 -- and was down all week, seven day average weight was only 146, suffering jet lag this morning.
12/05: 150.8 -- was up to almost 155 mid-week; moderating back to goal range....
12/12: 148.8 -- Still just above my maintenance range, and my ten-day average is QUITE above, but I'm going back in the right direction! Next report will be at or below 148.0

“I'm not giving up, but this plateau stuff is getting old.The trend line is down, but it looks like I will be in this 210-204 range forever. Advice, anyone?”

    Hi Steve,
What worked for me was having a heart-to-heart with myself. I had been eating out (my addiction) and the scale popped up 2.6 lbs over 2 days.

First, I looked over all my stats - exercise & calories & macro/micros. I saw my Exercise was fine, but sat fat & sodium & carbs were up.

So, I dug deep. Did I want to maintain or lose more? (I am feeling good, looking *almost* like I want to.) Do I want to eat this stuff & be a little heavier & prolong this wt loss journey or so I really want to see what I’ll look like in another 5-7 lbs down & move on to maintenance & some new clothes that fit better.

I decided to re-commit. I increased my daily deficit from 1-100 calories to 300-450 a day, kept up my exercise, added in more vegetables (I noticed I was eating mostly fruit), got my macros & micros in better shape, relaxed a bit more, self-care, etc.

So my advice would be: which will make you feel better— Losing weight or eating some Xmas cookies? Either answer is, of course, valid.

Just think of your preferences and you will know what to do.

I’ve seen 4 rough categories of folks in here:
    1) Holiday Fun / I’ll Lose It Later Group: they feel the holiday foods are worth the weight gain/maintain and plan to redouble efforts in January
    2) Weight Loss/Healthy Nutrition Group: some feel the holiday foods do not meet their health goals, creating new non-food or healthier food holiday traditions, & are losing while focusing on healthy food choices
    3) Weight Loss/I Can Eat Anything I Plan Group: some are pre-planning an occasional cookie & continuing to lose, and 4) It’s Just 2 Days not ALL of December Group: some are dieting in December with the plan to eat on Dec 25 & New Year’s Eve with a loss or maintenance for the month.

It’s your choice. You ARE in control! Making a CONSCIOUS choice is the key.

And we’re here to support you in whatever choice you make!

Thanks for your thoughts, Molly. You nailed the categories for people's choices for navigating the holiday season,

I have been in this range for about a year. I had a VO2 max test done in May. Put my resting metabolic rate at 1990 calories per day. The trainer calculated that I should eat about 2800 calories per day for maintenance.

I have tried various calorie levels between 2500 and 2000 calories per day. Most recently I've been aiming for 2000 calories per day. My logging is not perfect, but I'd put it at 80%-90% accurate. I don't try to eat back exercise calories, which are wildly overstated in my case. I ate at around 2500 calories back in May and June and did not gain or lose any significant weight.

Weight goes up and down slightly (as you can see) but I'm not getting the permanent loss that I want. Hence the frustration. Regardless, my health and mobility is much better, even if I never lose another pound. I'm actually pleased to see a year with regaining any significant weight.

    08/25 = 156.0
09/01 = 154.5 followed by middle brother's wedding & long holiday weekend w/ no logging on MFP so we'll see

    12/08 = 157.0
12/15 = 156.5 hangin' in there ~ better than gaining

At this point, as long as I maintain / stay 1-5-anything until New Year's, I'll be happy. And keeping up with dog walks and/or x-training at least 5x per week. Update 12/2: Icy roads mean walks on the treadmill ~ sad me & sad dog. Update 12/17: Above normal temps & roads (mostly) ice-free. Woohoo! Dog & I again walking outside until the next snow/freezing rain mix.

    Lowest weight - 202 - December 2017
Goal weight 183 (planned maintenance range 180-186)

12/19/18 - 203.5 - Okiedokey. Eating around 2000 calories most days. Working out 4 days a week. Never give up - never surrender!

12/19/18 - 203.5 - Okiedokey. Eating around 2000 calories most days. Working out 4 days a week. Never give up - never surrender!

    Yay!! Congrats!!

MFP SW 195 (Nov 2015) ~ presently MFP goal set for 0.5# loss per week
    GW #1 150
    GW #2 145 (normal BMI)

    07/07 = 156.0 post-vacation w/i net calories not. so. much. Oops.
    07/14 = 154.5 prelogging & sticking w/ plan helps
    07/21 = 154.5 walked in Packers 5K 44:50 ave pace 14:26 min/mile ~ beat goal < 45:00
07/28 = 157.5 kinda crashin' & burnin' last few days ~ this too shall pass
    08/04 = 155.5 CICO works
08/11 = 158.0 going backwards ~ however, Feast with the Beasts was totally worth it!
08/18 = 157.5 saw 156.0 at least once during the week
    08/25 = 156.0
09/01 = 154.5 followed by middle brother's wedding & long holiday weekend w/ no logging on MFP so we'll see
    09/08 = 157.5 deserved ~ office bday celebrations / walked in City Stadium 5K for Veterans in 44:27 & ave. pace 14:16
09/15 = 156.0 eating out tonight w/ hubby, sister & BIL, then going to Packers game tomorrow ~ there will be adult beverages
09/22 = 155.5 followed by belated anniversary dinner w/ hubby, including a shared dessert + no regrets!
    09/29 = 154.0
10/06 = 155.0 maybe water retention in muscles b/c resumed home version of weights & circuit-training day before (crap weather & no dog walk before work)
10/13 = 157.0 birthday treats & adult beverages / walked in Run for the Hill of It 5K in 48:13 pace 15:32 & hill 2:01 ~ beat both time (part unpaved trail with sloppy conditions due to 5" rain in preceding week) & hill (finish is UP a steep sledding hill) from last year ~ only 25 of 267 participants finished hill < 1 minute
    10/20 = 155.0
10/27 = 158.0 oops ~ lots of leaf raking day before & too. much. snacking.
11/03 = 156.5 better planning / stopped evening snacking (mostly)
11/10 = 156.0 basically stuck in maintenance mode ~ not the worst thing
    11/17 = 157.0 staged holiday parade (w/ brunch & adult beverages) & raked leaves
11/24 = 159.5 Thanksgiving week & paid time off with hubby ~ def going in wrong direction ~ oops
    12/01 = 157.5 walked in Jingle Bell 5K 45:38 & ave. pace 14:42 ~ missed goal < 45:00
    12/08 = 157.0
12/15 = 156.5 hangin' in there ~ better than gaining
    12/22 = 155.5 weigh-in about 3 hrs later than usual ~ had a good sleep-in for a change
