I have always had aquariums, and I have a huge natural pond full of "seaweed". I cannot mentally talk myself into eating it, and I don't have to. I can't eat quinoa because it looks ike a bowl of small worms to me; however, I like it as an ingredient in things like "healthy" crackers, I tried a bowl of quinoa and couldn't eat it. I've never tried seaweed. I'll come back to read other's comments about it's tastiness!

Grew up eating seaweed and seaside veggies. Hair seaweed ( usually sorted & washed before a gelatinous pie is the result after adding hot water to it ++), wakame seaweed, seagrapes ( a favourite) with fresh flaked salmon or tuna, kelp is usually used for cooking (wrapping & for steaming akin to a beach side clam bake).

Our family farms them to export here to the US and Japan. Delighted you'd tried and enjoy it.

A Japanese restaurant in my town has a seaweed salad with 4-5 different varieties of seaweed. Sea veggies are also good for you. All have different flavors and textures - they're tasty to me, but they're probably an acquired taste. Seaweed comes from, well, the sea. The stuff you see in ponds and aquariums is not the same thing. They've developed a variety of dulse that even tastes similar to bacon. Having eaten dried dulse on vacation in the Maritime Provinces of Canada, I can see where it might be genetically tweaked to provide a bacon-like flavor.
