Cardio/weight training

My main goal is to lose fat and weight. currently i Weigh 229lb and my goal weight is 184lb. I am trying to incorporate both cardio and weight/strength training in my schedule. My question is should I do both cardio and weight training during same session (strength training first and then cardio) or should I do it on alternate days (3 days training and 3 days cardio) and one day rest?

Whatever your personal preference is, since you don't have any specific goals in strength/physique or cardiovascular performance. Just keep in mind that your diet will be the primary driver in weight loss - you can't out-train a bad diet.

Either of the methods you mention will work. Even pro body builders have their preference - one does 30 mins cardio after the workout, one splits iron and cardio different days. Probably #1 mistake for new guys is overtraining, failing to rest. You don't get stronger during the lifting, you get stronger during the HEALING.

My weights suffered when I used to do cardio during the same session.

If it has to be same session, I would lift first, then do cardio. Don't want to be tired and lift with bad form and potentially have an injury.

Or OP can do a split cardio. A quick 10 minutes as a warm up, especially on leg day. Lift, then do the rest of the cardio.
