Pleasant surprises.

Has anyone had any pleasant surprises when it comes to nutrition in food? For me it's the protein counts of some foods.
Vegemite an Aussie staple has 1.3g per 5g serve. Not a lot, but good for 17 calories. It adds up when you have with cheese or eggs (my favourite) on toast. I was only eating for the vitamin b.
Also beans and chickpeas, really help top up the protein in salads and stews. So do veggies like spinach and broccoli. All things I started eating for taste and the vitamin content.
Anyone have any others? Not just protein of course.

I agree that beans and chickpeas are wonderful.
Pumpkin has been a wonderful low-calorie source of fiber for me. 8oz (about 226 grams) is only about 100 calories. I put it in smoothies.0 -
