Hey,
been doing this for 5 weeks now but the most I have lost is a pound a week. I know that is stable but wanted to know if I was doing anything wrong with my flood for workout.
Thanks Adam

Maybe you're having unrealistic expectations. What's your height and weight?8

1 pound a week with a 500 calorie a day deficit is spot on for where most should be aiming. You are actually doing well.6

The media is responsible for raising expectations to unrealistic levels in my view! All these quick weight loss shows/gimmicks do not represent the reality for most people who are trying to lose weight in a way that reinforces good habits for maintenance - you are doing great!

1 lb/week is right on target.0 -

A pound a week sounds a healthy lose.
I would say manage your expectations.1 -
If you are a bigger guy and you were expecting closer to 2lbs per week tell us more about your habits these last 5 weeks. Are you logging absolutely everything you eat? How are you choosing food items from the database? How are you measuring your food? If you exercise are you eating back all the calories it gives you or a portion?1

If you're losing between 0,3% to 1% of your bodyweight per week, then you're doing something right.0

I agree. Completely. But, as someone mentioned, the media puts all this crap out there....here in Winston-Salem, NC about one year ago (actually about 18 months ago) there was some company selling "take a pill every day for 40 days and lose 40 pounds". Now, I do not know anything about that company or that "pill" but I do know that I heard a lot of people talking about it. The deal was that you changed nothing (MAJOR RED FLAG) except that you take this pill and - like magic (ANOTHER RED FLAG) - 40 lbs would just disappear.
Everyone has that "thought process" in their head! I mean, as I have stated numerous times before, just because I write these goals down on paper does not mean that they happen, right? Writing your goals down is Step 1! You then have to do Steps 2 and 3 and maybe 4!~
And then there are shows like "The Biggest Loser" and what not. Anyway, my point.....oh, yes - sorry! My point is.....this s**t is hard....it is hard to reach your goals and it is just as hard, if not harder, to maintain once you get there. In other words....this stuff is simple....consume fewer calories than you burn. Ha! "Simple" and "Easy" are two very different words for a very good reason!
If I am honest......not trying to offend anyone with this......but it did not take you 40 days to get fat, right? You were not that 32yo, 5'5" @ 131lbs woman who woke up one day and was 196 lbs, right? So, how in the heck do people expect (and those expectations are wonderfully managed and manipulated - generally by someone selling "the solution"), one month later, to wake up that 131 lbs woman again? Not gonna happen, folks! Well, not for most of us. Sure as f**k not for me!8 -

You really haven't given us enough info to give you any useful feedback.
What is your height, current weight, and goal weight?
How many calories are you eating? What kind of exercise are you doing?
Having said that, unless you are obese, 1 lb per week is kind of perfect.
If you think you are eating at a much larger deficit than that, it is probably inaccurate logging. If your exercise routine is fairly new, it could be water retention.0 -
1lb a week. You're doing something VERY right.5

No...you just have unrealistic expectations. Reality shows like the biggest loser aren't really reality...3 -
1 pound a week is GREAT- I would love to lose that much each week- but alas I am short and already within 10-15 pounds of goal so I am thankful to lose.05 a week0

"Reality shows like the biggest loser aren't really reality". I don't believe in weight loss challenges like that. Most of them ate it all back...rebound weight gain with friends. Gooo oooo sooo slooow for the permanent win. There's nothing about rapid weight loss that does your skin any favors.1

I think a pound per week is great. I am 168 and losing 0.5 to 1 lb per week and am happy. I do les mills classes an hour a day 6 days a week but I don't count calories....I just try to make better choices and watch portions. I still eat burgers and hot dogs but only one burger not two and a small amount of fries not a mountain. I also avoid junk food for the most part. I know my is all about counting calories and I think that is great but for me this is what works and is something I think I can do long term. I was 195 at my highest and so show lost 14 without trying and 13 over the last 4 months while trying. Just keep at it as a pound is awesome!0

That is over 50 lbs a year.
How long did it take you to put on the weight that you want to lose? If like a lot of people the weight crept up a couple lbs a year over a couple of decades, then losing the excess gain in a year or less is doing quite well.
Drastic weight losses are not healthy and sustainable, the lb a week target is generally considered a healthy rate of loss.
You are doing great, stick to it and you will see the results and be happy.1
