So I went to a place called “River Run” and got French toast. I compared it to IHops (740) and Denny’s (1280) But I cant seem to find the correct one. No sugar or syrup was added, not sure if there was anything else on it. Please help!

Calorie counting is all about educated estimating. The more you can control about the measuring and preparation of the food, the closer your estimates can be.

When you eat at a restaurant, especially a non-chain restaurant, all you can do is guess about the calorie content. Even chain restaurants vary depending upon who fixed the food. If I were you, I'd go with the Denny's estimate or somewhere between the two.

I would either take the highest one or take an average of the two.

If it's the River Run in the Lake Tahoe area - I'd use the higher count and maybe add some for good measure. :) I mean, how many slices of bread? Would you guess each piece at 30g or 75g? How big? How thick? How "coated" did they seem? Any sugar or butter used? Lots of variables.

But yeah, it's a guess. Do your best, move on and try to make good choices when you need to eat at a restaurant.
