Hi All,
I just dusted off my fitbit ultra just to find that fitbit no longer supports this model. Keeping track of steps and movement is enough for me. I don't like to wear anything on my wrist or hands. I liked the ultra because it was wearable without letting everyone know I was wearing it. I am quite overweight and I have found people to be mean to fat folks exercising. So I would love to hear people recommendations both pro and con. Thank you.

If you have an iPhone, that keeps track of steps,
Try not to pay any attention to the "mean people" who are ignorant and rude. No excuse for bad manners.1 -
If strangers are mean to you, ignore them. If acquaintances are mean, don't associate with them. Most people who enjoy fitness are supportive and enthusiastic towards anyone who does the same, regardless of their weight..4

As missysippy said above, Iphones AND android phones have apps that will keep track of steps.
I don't always keep my phone on me so I would like to know of alternatives.
I do have a question about the apps. Does it use the accelerometer and gyroscopes to track your steps? What if the phone was in a pocket or a woman kept her phone in her purse, how does it track steps with little movement?

I have an Iphone 3 - missysippy930 - nobody makes apps for that anymore.

When I first started weigh loss I bought a $25 pedometer. It was (still is) surprisingly accurate for me. You can check out pedometers on amazon.
Mine can be carried in a pocket or purse and it keeps a good record of calories, steps, aerobic steps, days, times, running totals, and more.0 -
The best tracker for me is me. I don't use any of the gadgets except MFP for tracking my data points. I can gauge my hours of activity and my distances. I know where I'm at by how the shadows fall from the trees, use those like a compass during daylight hours. There's no cell phone service out there in the trees so most of them wouldn't link up anyhoo. Ooo, you won't suffer the slings and arrows of bullies out here. Nuh huh.0

I just use an Android phone. I used the Pacer app and it's already calibrated so I can only make 10,000 steps for one hour and forty minutes of nonstop walking which is reasonable.
I bought a $15 pedometer when I first started walking but it doesn't start counting steps unless I make at least 3 of them in a row which means all the single steps don't count so when it got broken I just stuck with my phone ever since.0 -
I have the Alta (no HR) and I wear it on a clip holder. I bought them from Amazon and they work like a charm.

I was going to suggest the Alta. It can be worn in a clip or even a necklace (although that probably won’t be your preference).1 -
I have had the Realalt 3DTriSport Walking 3D Pedometer with Clip and Strap for over a year daily. I usually clip it to my shirt most of the time but have clipped it to my pocket, waistband or bra under my shirt at times when I wanted to be less obvious. The clip is strong. There is a necklace length strap that it comes with so you could wear it on that and slip it under your shirt.
