Any luck freezing avocados?

My grocery store has avocados on sale for $1. I was thinking about buying a bunch and once ripe, cutting up, vacuum sealing, and freezing for the winter. Has anyone done something like this successfully?

Apparently you can but the texture goes a bit strange so you only want to use them mashed https://m.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/freezing-avocados_n_1864437?guccounter=10

Interesting, thanks. I used to wind up with avocados that were horribly bitter and always assumed it was a result of them freezing up in the cooler at work overnight. Now it's back to being a mystery but I'll definitely take advantage of this next time they're on sale.
