                    Hey, y'all!
When I was 7 years old, I was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Prior to that, I played soccer, basketball, even did taekwondo, but as soon as I was diagnosed, I stopped because I was scared. Scared that something else might happen, scared of my diabetes (at the time, I had the highest BG recorded without putting myself into a coma in OK), and scared that I wouldn't be adequate because of my diagnosis... all of that fear carried over into my teens and adult years.
Last January, I found out i was pregnant. At exactly 12 weeks, I had a D&C because the baby's spinal cord and skull weren't developing, and let me just say this: I have NEVER experienced heartache like that... I still cry when I think about it, and even mentioning it makes me tear up as I type this. It was so hard, and it still is, and in a lot of ways it added to how I felt inadequate. It also made me hate myself..
Fast forward to now, and this previous Saturday I signed up at a CrossFit gym that is literally IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. Like how lazy can I be to make excuses to avoid somewhere less than a mile from my home?? So, I'm still in my intake/learning 1-on-1 classes, but I went on Saturday, yesterday, and this morning! I still have a class on Friday and Saturday, and then i'll advance to the normal classes... and I already am feeling better about myself.
I just want to look in the mirror and feel confidence, and feel proud of myself again after so many years of not... I'm not very fit, and i'm sitting at 5'6.5" and 160lbs, but I'm meal prepping and cooking more and trying to change my habits.
I'd LOVE to get to meet people from here, and give encouragement, and find my own awesome cyber support team!
Thanks guys!
Emily
