Stretch Marks and Loose Skin

How has everyone been progressing with their weight loss skin?

Do you see any improvements in skin shrinkage or stretch marks fading?

Skin shrinks very slowly, and only to a point. Losing a lot of weight will cause loose skin. Age, genetics, overall health, and rate of weight loss all play a part in how much excess skin one ends up with and how much will skin will eventually shrink.

Over the past year, my turkey neck and bat wings all but disappeared, but my belly flap seems to really be enjoying hanging around.

How much weight did you lose?

Lost 43# over past 2 yrs. Still have some but most of the loose belly skin went away on its own. However, also have some loose butt skin which has not.

Odd thing is/was that the loose skin is/was most obvious when I tense/tensed my belly/butt muscles. Much less noticeable when relaxed. So, I try to keep those muscles relaxed when observable to others. ;)

I've lost 80lbs and everything is lean except my lower tummy. It's massively improved but I'll always have the stretch marks and it just feels a little podgy - the only reason I've managed to 'fill out' my skin though is by weight training. I see lots of skinny flabby people just doing cardio at my gym but it's rare to see a flabby weight lifter.

You're giving me hope that my neck too might look better someday. I'm not loving the loose skin there (although it beats the *kitten* out of 2 or 3 extra chins!)

Major shrinkage of true loose skin over 2+ years in maintenance, even at age 60+. Going into year 3 of maintenance, most of it is gone. (Don't know if it's relevant but I'm a very active/healthy-eating li'l ol' lady. ;) ).

True loose skin = thin wrinkles, like wrinkles in fabric. Folds/rolls of say 1/2"+ still have subcutaneous fat conspiring with gravity to keep them stretched. In case of the latter, your options are continuing weight loss (if that's healthy/sustainable) or recomposition.

    Results are individual!

@wontwentyfive So far: about 180lbs. Took 2 years to lose 170lbs, took a year off to do a recomp and give my skin a chance to catch up. Gained 6lbs during the year I took off, but lost a pants size. I'm now down a total of 180lbs, and counting.

    Now that's dedication. Very inspiring
