The most embarrasing thing a parent can do is try to talk and act like a cool teenager.
Talk like her and her friends. Talk to her friends like you are their age. Be overly enthusiastic. Buy the latest popular teen music and sing along...possibly dance.

If she is a teenager and she likes a older song from your youth say "Your mother and I love this song." (pause), look off into the distance for a moment or two, start nodding, smile., "As a matter of fact I think you were conceived to this song." Freak her right out.2
