No snacks :(

I forgot to add in 1 of my snacks to my lunch bag(I typically have 3 options). So that stinks but now I am screwed because the fruit I had both pieces have gone bad.. I ate breakfast 2h 40m ago and my lunch break isn't for another 2 hours.
This is making me kind of panicky honestly. I am going to be crazy hungry and that is dangerous to my calories.

Do you have access to any food at work?0
-
That always sucks! I hate when I forget my planned food.
Remember this - if you put in that you want to lose 2 lbs per week, you have a 1000 calorie deficit per day. Which means you can eat 1000 calories over your daily target and still be at maintenance. So, if you go over by 300, or 500, or 700 calories today, you are still in a deficit! Make the best choices possible, but don't beat yourself up.6 -
I'd run to the closest convenience store and get myself a Muscle Milk. I go a little nutty if I wait too long to eat.0

No I did just find a bag of chips, they are kettle cooked. I'm not loving the idea of chips but only 150 calories.0 -
Last place we worked, we had protein bars in the vending machines, bags of nuts, etc. that were reasonably healthy snacks. I've found something with protein will tide me over.

A 4-5 hr gap between meals is very survivable, even if you're missing an expected 200 calorie snack. I have confidence you can survive the morning. Here, take some. You need it.9

Normally it would be totally fine however my breakfast this morning was a let down.

I agree with @JeromeBarry1- 4-5 hours between meals is survivable. Drink some water. Don't forget to breathe.
The panicky feeling is a story you're telling yourself about not having a snack. It's good to learn to do without - I find that it's almost never actual hunger.11 -
For your breaks, think about adding some tuna packs, jerky and even olive packs that don't require a fridge to your emergency stash. There's always dried fruit and cheese sticks, nuts, too. I've left cheese sticks in a drawer all day without a fridge, they'll hold for a day.2

You are a genius!! That's a great idea!1 -
Try not to panic, OP, it will be okay, I promise. Only a short time left until lunch, just drink some water, and relax. Do you have somewhere that you can keep snacks at work? I have a whole drawer full of snacks at my desk for just these types of emergencies, because while I don't generally snack, sometimes I still need to feed my belly.
I remember those days, and for me, it was because my blood sugars were out of control, so I NEEDED to eat frequently to avoid the inevitable "crash" that would happen once my insulin levels spiked and my blood glucose levels plummeted. It took me a long time to get to the point when I evened out my blood sugar levels and learned how to properly fuel my body so that I no longer felt hungry between meals.2 -

I am making a list of snacks foods to have handy!! I'm almost 2 weeks in have lost 4.8lbs. Still learning, but I know how downhill fast I can go when I'm hungry.4 -

I always have a box of protein bars in my desk drawer. Along with Crystal Light for when I get sick of plain water.0 -
I would not buy/get a snack just this time and use it as an opportunity to experience hunger and understand how it's not scary and you're more than capable of surviving it. We're talking 5 hours here, not 5 days. You can go back to snacking to your heart's content after that, but you will have learned to deal with hunger without panicking.4

I know I'm not starving. I panicked because I have tried for years to lose weight, and it was always a time that I was super hungry that helped me derail myself. That is why I was panicking because I want so bad for this time to work. I know what happens when I get hungry and how if I am extremely hungry I binge. Snacking is good during weightloss as long as it is healthy choices.2 -

Do you binge on things other than healthy foods cuz that could be part of the problem. If you deprive yourself of things you normally would eat, you could go crazy making up for lost time when you *do* eat it.
I also suggest a snack drawer.1 -

Snacking isn't a bad thing, but you shouldn't be panicky when you have to miss a snack. The exceptions would be if this is a meal plan that you're being put on for disease management by a dietitian, if you're in ED recovery, etc.
Snacks are not an essential part of life. You're not going to die if you don't get a snack.
Just eat your lunch at your regular time, and move on.0 -
I understand getting into a routine and then feeling anxious if your routine is disrupted. I think that's the problem here. It's not that you *have* to have a snack, unless you have a medical condition that requires you to eat at certain times. The problem is just that your routine says that 2 pm or whatever is snacktime. There is nothing wrong with that routine, but it's just that--a routine, a habit. Assuming you ate a reasonable lunch, then you might be a little hungrier than usual by dinnertime, but that's the worst that will happen.
I agree with keeping nonperishable things in your desk/bag in the future if you like having a snack. I have tea, jerky, granola bars, protein bars, and small chocolates in my office. That gives me zero calorie options (the tea) all the way up to 200 calorie options (the protein bars).0
