Tonight we have family coming for fish n chips. I would normally have battered fish. But obviously that’s not good.
What can I eat that will be a good substitute for takeaways? What are your go to meals for things like this?
I have 4000kj left. I really don’t want to go over.

Why isn't it good? Can you order the fish but get veggies on the side instead of the fries?

Or eat just half and reheat the rest for tomorrow. Easy peasy.

Depending on the quantity, battered fish can be surprisingly tame even in typical takeaway portions. The only time I had issues fitting in fish, fried or otherwise was when I had grilled salmon drowned in lemon butter sauce. I would have been better off going for the battered fried variety.

    ETA:
4000kj is roughly 1000 calories if I'm not mistaken? In my experience, takeaway battered fish is usually 200-500 calories (roughly 800-1000kj) as ordered, depending on how large of a portion your restaurant serves. You would have plenty left even if you want fries with that.
