Vegetarian Gains

Options
Hi All,

I am pretty new to all of this.

I am vegetarian and 131lbs - I am aiming to get to 172.

My problem is protein. I gotta get about 124g a day and 2480 calories.

Well, when your used to eating *about* 1000 a day, that is tough.

Anyone got any advice for a newbie?

Thanks.
Ross

    Hi Ross,
Tempeh, tofu (don't be afraid to use caloric sauce sine you want to gain weight), nuts and nut butters, protein shakes, beans and rice. There are a lot of great high protein, vegetarian and vegan options listed on this board. Do a search and best of luck to you!

I would up your calories with some calorie dense foods like grains, nuts, oil, avocados, etc and then increase your protein with tofu, tempeh, seitan, lentils.

Do you eat dairy? Some greek yogurt or whey protein would help to if that's the case.

Eggs! Either whole eggs or a combination of eggs (protein and fat) plus whites (just protein)

Hey all thanks for the recommendations! You all seem to think I could do with some protein powder, so I am going to get some when I get paid.

    Thanks

You can follow on youtube Jon Venus, he's a vegan lifter. He may give you good ideas for food too.

pre logging your day really helps allow you to meet your protein goals as you can adjust based on the foods you choose.
