Rows and wrist pain?

Hey all,
Been having a problem doing any type of rowing exercise lately--I keep getting this weird electric shock sensation in my one wrist, on the side of my right thumb.
It doesn't hurt, it just feels weird and disrupts my workouts. Anybody else experience this? Does it go away?

Are you talking rowing type strength exercises with weights, or actual rowing like rowing machine?
Either way it sounds kind of nerve-pain-like, from your description.
I'd suggest having someone knowledgeable look at your form. Pure guess would be some kind of grip issue (too tight, wrong point of pressure) or some joint that's at a bad angle from unnecessary tension somewhere. (Is your wrist cocked slightly to one side when it should be neutral, for example?)1 -
Strength exercises, like barbell rows.0

YESSS!! I get this but how I describe it is like a "popping" or "shooting" up from my wrist to about mid forearm especially when I move my wrist? The first time it happened it was just writing in math class must have been about 14? My wrists also are really weak and painful when pressed so I've never been able to do press ups or anything like that. I just push through it ((obvs stop when the pain hits)) and it doesn't last too long for me. Try google wrists strengthening exercises especially to stabilise the lunate bone. I have a few bandage things I put on every so often which helps. x0

I row 10k meters/day and sometime experience a tingling in my left wrist, which I attribute to carpal tunnel, when I may also get a numb butt from not altering my seat position. Changing the angle of my wrist and shaking it out usually relieves the problem.
OP: In your case, do you "break" your wrist when your problem happens? If so a wrist restraint device that keeps your wrist straight (and unflexed) "may" help. You should be able to find one at your local pharmacy.0
